Dr. Jorge Angás Pajas is a Prehistoric Archaeology Researcher in the Aragonese Foundation for Research & Development (ARAID) in the Department of Antiquity Sciences in the University of Zaragoza (Spain).
He is specialized in Geospatial Sciences and Digital Cultural Heritage applied to Rock Art and Archaeology and forms part of the “First Settlers and Archaeological Heritage Research Group (P3A)” of the University of Zaragoza (Spain). He has carried out research stays in the Dipartimento di Archeologia e Storia delle Arti (Università degli Studi di Siena, Italy) and at the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles DRAC Midi-Pyrénées (Toulouse, France). He completed his PhD thesis with a European mention, cum laude and the first Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2015-16).
Since 2016, he has worked on international archaeological campaigns in the Emirate of Sharjah together with the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and Central Asia (Uzbekistan) together with the University of Salamanca and the University of Barcelona. His contributions have allowed him to develop extensive scientific activity in the publication of over sixty papers and books. Likewise, he has made seventy contributions, the majority as a guest speaker, in congresses and workshops.
He obtained the certification of associate professor (2020) in the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation ANECA (Spain). He is a member of ICOMOS-Spain and founder member of the Scientific National Committee for Rock Art ICOMOS-Spain.
Research interests:
Analysis of methodological innovation in industry and engineering and its application to Cultural Heritage via the development of procedures and standards.
Development and research of methods and techniques applied to the documentation, management and dissemination of Rock Art for its scientific and social transfer.
Development and application of multi-scale and multi-temporal documentation remote sensing techniques (LiDAR, GNSS, multispectral sensors, structured light 3D scanner, satellite data and SfM techniques) for archaeological research.
