She is a Full Professor in the area of Basic Psychology within the Department of Psychology and Sociology at the University of Zaragoza, as well as Co-Principal Investigator of the Mental Health Research Group (B17/23R), a consolidated group recognized by the Government of Aragon (DGA) where she coordinates the strategic line "New Technologies in Mental Health." She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Psychology and a Master's Degree in Psychotherapy Interventions. She is a member of the National Research Network on Chronicity, Primary Care, and Health Promotion (RICAPPS), coordinator of the Gambling Prevention Working Group at the Spanish Society of Public Health (SESPAS), and former coordinator of the research group at the Professional Association of Psychology of Aragon.
Her main lines of work focus on new technologies applied to health, depression, stress, and mindfulness. She has participated in the development of several online interventions (m-health and e-health) and mobile apps for the prevention and treatment of depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and health promotion in non-clinical populations—all based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and third-generation therapies. Additionally, her work encompasses multicenter clinical trials and projects focused on suicide prevention and the detection of emotional states through social media analysis.
She has received several research awards, including a predoctoral research award from the Society for Psychotherapy Research, an Extraordinary Doctorate Award, and recognition in new technologies and mental health (such as the 2017 DKV Health and eHealth Hackathon, and the 2017 Society for Research on Internet Interventions award for the best intervention to increase acceptance and adherence to online therapy).Three teaching innovation awards from the University of Zaragoza and the NTICs Chair in university education for initiatives like "Teaching Medicine and Theater Hand in Hand," "Psico-vet pills," and "Twitter for learning."
Her patents and intellectual property registrations include the development of several digital psychological interventions, such as the GAMBL-OUT online escape room, the MINDXYOU "Overcoming Anxiety" program, "Smiling is Fun," and the AIAIPS "Mindfulness" mobile app. Regarding her service to evaluation agencies, she served as an evaluator for the National Evaluation and Foresight Agency (ANEP) under the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (2018–2024) and evaluated excellence R&D+i projects for the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development, and Innovation (2021–2024). Internationally, she has acted as an external expert for EU COST Action proposals (2022–2024), sat on the jury for the AstraZeneca Foundation Scientific Award (FWO and FNRS), and evaluated MSCA COFUND Young International Academics ("YIA") postdoctoral grants.
She has also completed research stays at leading institutions specializing in new technologies and mental health, including the Black Dog Institute (Sydney), Labpsitec (Castellón), the Oxford Mindfulness Centre at the University of Oxford (UK), the University of Bristol (UK), Ulm University Hospital (Germany), and IUNICS at the University of the Balearic Islands.
