His research revolves around the confluence of intelligent systems and distributed systems. In particular, how intelligent systems can be used to improve the management of computational resources and their performance. Initially, during the development of his doctoral thesis, this interest was reflected in the construction of a model in the field of problem specification in a way that allows flexible execution in a distributed environment with the presence of faults. From this initial experience, he has considered other aspects:
1) The integration of intelligent strategies and resource management mechanisms with existing distributed computing infrastructures (e.g. cloud computing). 2) The study of formal aspects (using petri nets) to better develop point 1). 3) The analysis of requirements and behaviour of emerging applications, such as streaming and big data, and the application and validation of the techniques developed in points 1) and 2) for these new emerging applications. Thus, he has collaborated with Prof. Omer Rana and the Energy Institute of Cardiff University, UK, where our computational models were applied to facilitate the control and recharging processes of electric vehicle batteries. With Prof. Congduc Pham, University of Pau (France), and Prof. Nazim Agoulmine, University of Evry (France), on aspects of communication network management; and on the development of intelligent strategies in resource management, with Prof. Manish Parashar, the university of Utah (USA). Currently, he is a member of the COSMOS Group, led by Prof. Ilarri.

Currently, he is involved in various experiment reproducibility initiatives. In particular, he is a member of the programme committee of the first reproducibility conference, ACM REP 2023, and is responsible for the reproducibility of the European project Horizon AI4Europe, which aims to become the reproducibility standard for AI, and reproducibility chair of SC'23 and ICPP’23. He is also associate editor in chief for Reproducibility in the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems.

He was a member of the programme committee of relevant conferences (e.g. CCGrid or UCC) and reviewer for journals related to his field of work and have managed (together with other colleagues) several Special Issues in international journals and conferences. He has been associate editor in Computer and Electrical Engineering Journal. In addition, he has participated in the organisation of several workshops and actively participates in the organising committee of the International Utility and Cloud computing conference. He has been associate editor of the Internet of Things Engineering Cyber Physical Human Systems journal. His medium-term goal is to continue with the collaborations already initiated and to forge new synergies from which new approaches can be generated and from which more enriching visions of research in general can be apprehended.
