Assistant Professor at the UNIZAR, where he teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education (Physical Education specialization) and the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teacher Training (Physical Education specialization). He also serves as a lecturer at the Institute of Exercise Science and Nutrition (ICEN, Tech University) and in the Specialist Course in Prevention, Intervention and Functional Recovery of Sports Injuries at the Faculty of Sport Sciences (INEF), Polytechnic University of Madrid.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Sciences, a Master's Degree in Physical and Sports Performance, a Master's Degree in Teacher Education, and an International PhD in Sport Sciences. He graduated Cum Laude with unanimous distinction and received both the Extraordinary Doctoral Award and the Best Doctoral Thesis Award from the Chair of Physical Activity and Health at the University of Murcia. He is accredited by the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) as an Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor). He has delivered more than 1,470 hours of university teaching across 31 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has supervised 17 Bachelor's theses and 7 Master's theses. His teaching activity has been recognized with a three-year teaching award (trienio), a five-year teaching merit award (quinquenio), and the publication of an electronic teaching resource.
His research focuses on optimizing resistance training through Velocity-Based Training (VBT), Blood Flow Restriction (BFR), force-velocity and load-velocity relationships, neuromuscular fatigue, and muscular adaptations to resistance training.
He has authored 33 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) publications (76% in Q1 and 24% in Q2 journals), as well as 2 additional peer-reviewed articles and 4 book chapters. He has been awarded a six-year research assessment (sexenio) by ANECA. According to Google Scholar, his work has received 765 citations (h-index = 10; i10-index = 11). He serves as a reviewer for several international JCR journals and is a Topic Editor for Frontiers in Sports and Active Living. He has presented 53 scientific communications (18 as first author) and has served on the organizing and scientific committees of national and international conferences. He has participated in five competitive research projects, including two national R&D projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science (PID2020-117915RA-I00 and PID2024-162239OB-I00), two educational innovation projects, and a competitive grant for scientific equipment acquisition. He is a member of the International Strength Training Network and the research groups SEJ-680 Science-Based Training and S53-23R Training, Physical Activity and Sports Performance. His international research experience includes 8.5 months of research stays at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland), the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (Portugal), and the French National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance (INSEP, Paris, France), as well as short-term research visits to France, Sweden, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
In addition to his academic work, he is actively involved in knowledge transfer and scientific dissemination through collaboration with Vitruve (Speed4Lifts S.L.), developing evidence-based educational content for strength and conditioning professionals and regularly participating in invited lectures, specialized training courses, and outreach activities.
