Norberto Fueyo has been a full professor of Fluid Mechanics at the School of Engineering and Architecture, University of Zaragoza, since 2008. After completing his MSc in Industrial Engineering (1987), he worked as a Research Assistant at Imperial College, University of London, where in 1990 he completed his PhD thesis in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) under the supervision of Prof. D. Brian Spalding. His research lines include CFD (with emphasis on numerical methods, combustion and reactive flows, and multiphase flows), renewable energies, and energy systems. He has been awarded five six-year research periods (sexenios), has more than 2500 citations, around fifty publications in Q1 journals, and has supervised or co-supervised fourteen PhD theses. His work combines methodological and applied contributions, covering high-fidelity numerical simulation, reduced-order and multiscale modelling, advanced turbulence approaches for sprays and reacting flows, and simulation-based assessment of energy technologies. He is affiliated with the Institute for Engineering Research of Aragón (I3A).

He has been principal investigator in six competitive national projects, and has participated in nine European projects. These focused on combustion modelling, CFD of industrial energy systems, solid-oxide fuel cells, wind-field downscaling, and decision-support tools for public authorities. His contributions extend to sustainable combustion strategies, high-fidelity reduced models for industrial applications, multiphysics simulation in energy-conversion systems, and interactions between local rheology and bubble dynamics in polymeric liquids.

His research has also had strong industrial and technology-transfer dimensions: he has participated, often as principal investigator, in more than fifty-five research contracts with companies and organisations, typically on combustion, reactive flows, industrial burners, heat transfer, energy-efficiency solutions, or design optimisation. Participating organisations include Alcoa, the Asian Development Bank, BSH Electrodomésticos España SA, Celulosa Fabril SA, CEMEX España SA, CIEMAT, ENDESA, Foster Wheeler, CIUDEN, Gas Natural SDG, the Government of the Republic of El Salvador, Iberdrola, Ikerlan, Industrias Jiménez SA, the Spanish Ministry of Defence, Ringo Válvulas, SEDIGAS, UNESA, Unión Fenosa, and Valeo Térmico. He is the author of around sixty-one papers in international peer-reviewed journals and remains active in advancing multiphase modelling, combustion kinetics, and numerical prediction for industrial systems, exploring emerging synergies between CFD and artificial intelligence for the generation of high-fidelity surrogate models.
