Dr María Jesús Martínez Pestaña is Associate Professor (non-civil servant) in the Department of Documentation Sciences and History of Science at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters in University of Zaragoza. She currently teaches to undergraduated and graduated students. In addition, she is a supervisor of doctoral thesis.
Dr Martínez Pestaña earned her PhD at the Faculty of Information Sciences, Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). She holds an MA in Hispanic Studies from the University of London, a Prostgraduate Diploma in Documentation from Complutense University, and a BA in Information Sciences (Journalism) from Complutense University. She obtained a competitive  postdoctoral stay at University Carlos III from Madrid in 2011.
Journalism, Information Sciences, Documentation and the perspective of Hispanic studies converge in her research.  
Her first academic paper was about the structure of banks and press databases in the world. A few years later, her doctoral research dealt with scientific production in advertising during the period 1971-2001. Information Science, and specially the area of advertising is present in her research since 2002. Press documentation, advertising documentation, scientific production and bibliometric studies have constituted her main lines of initial research. Laterly, her interest in the European Union information policies has naturally joined her previous interests, especially in a context of global change.
