Carmen Marcuello (Sabiñánigo) is Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Zaragoza and is a full professor in the Department of Business Management at the same university. Her research has focused on the study of social economy organizations, social impact, and gender studies. She is the director of the GESES-University of Zaragoza research group and the Chair of Social Economy and Cooperatives, funded by the Government of Aragón. In addition, she is Vice President of CIRIEC-Spain and President of the International Scientific Commission on ‘Social and Cooperative Economy’ of CIRIEC-International, as well as the Scientific Commission on Social Economy of CIRIEC-Spain.

In collaboration with faculty from the Faculty of Economics and Business, she contributed to the creation of the Social Economy Laboratory, which focuses on the development and support of social entrepreneurship projects. She is also a member of the editorial boards of Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics and CIRIEC-España, Revista de la Economía Pública Social y Cooperativa. She serves on the Special Commission for the Observatory of Volunteering in Spain and the Aragonese Council for the Promotion of the Social Economy. Between 2017 and 2025, she was President of OIBESCOOP (Observatorio Iberoamericano del Empleo, la Economía Social y las Cooperativas).

She has participated in the creation of CEPES-Aragón and is a co-founder of the Musethica Association, where she has served as social director since 2012. Furthermore, as a member of the Board of the Foundation for Integration and Employment, she is part of the Board of Directors of the Special Employment Center, Arapack, and the work integration social enterprise, Mapiser.
