Research Activity: My research activity is focused, on one hand, on biomedical signal processing, and on the other hand, on the development of X-ray sensors.
In the field of biomedical signal processing, my research specifically focuses on the application of nonlinear methods for analyzing heart rate variability. By using nonlinear methods, risk markers for cardiovascular dysfunctions can be extracted. My work in this area concentrates on developing and evaluating methods that enable the application of nonlinear methods in clinical practice, characterizing the nonlinear dynamics of heart rate regulation in cardiovascular diseases.
Most relevant achievements in this research activity: 11 articles published in journals indexed in the JCR, 4 of them as the first author in journals such as Annals of Biomedical Engineering and Frontiers in Physiology, which are in the first quartile in their field, and 2 as the third author in the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, also in the first quartile of its field. The remaining articles are published in journals in the second and fourth quartiles of their respective fields. Additionally, an Italian patent was applied for during my doctoral stay in Milan. I have contributed to 26 conferences (10 as the first author), all of which underwent a peer-review process, with corresponding publications in the conference proceedings. 22 of these contributions were presented at international conferences, and their publications are included in widely recognized databases (Web of Science, IEEE Xplore). I have participated in 23 publicly funded research projects, 6 of which were national (CICYT, MINECO). I am a member of the Biomedical Research Networking Center (CIBER) and the Aragón Institute of Health Research (IIS).
In the field of X-ray sensor development, my research focuses particularly on the development and implementation of front-end software for control and data acquisition. The characterization setup requires the automation of measurements to optimize time and resources. Temperature control is essential in the measurement setup to ensure accurate measurements without temperature variability effects, making temperature stabilization critical. I am also involved in this aspect. Furthermore, developing a user interface for processing the obtained data for subsequent analysis is another task in which I am engaged.
Most relevant achievements in this research activity since 2018: 1 article in a JCR journal and participation in 2 publicly funded national research projects.

Teaching Activity: Over three academic years, I have taught practical classes in the degree programs of "Electrical Engineering," "Industrial Technologies," and "Electronic and Automatic Engineering" (a total of 320 hours) at the “Centro Universitario de la Defensa” of Zaragoza. I have taught Physics I for four academic years (800 hours) and Mechanics for two academic years (420 hours). I have supervised a final project for the "Telecommunication Engineering" degree (old plan, University of Zaragoza) and 11 final projects for the Industrial Organization Engineering degree at the “Centro Universitario de la Defensa”.
