Irene González-Fernández is a PhD Candidate in Architecture at the University of Zaragoza in Spain. She is a licensed Architect and Urban Planner (URJC, Spain, 2020) and holds an MSc in Sustainable Architecture from NTNU (Norway, 2023), as well as a Bachelor's degree in Design (URJC, Spain, 2020). Her research focuses on rethinking the architecture for older people through the lenses of sustainability and feminist ethics of care, aiming to transform residential care models into person-centered, sustainable, and inclusive spaces. She has actively contributed to several European (FME-ZEN, 2022; ARV, 2023) and national (MuWo, 2020-2022; Built4Life Lab, 2023-2025) research projects in Spain and Norway, advancing innovation in sustainable architecture and gender equity. Irene is the author of over 15 scientific publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, technical reports, and conference papers, and has undertaken teaching duties at NTNU and the University of Zaragoza. She has been recognized with excellence awards and scholarships from leading institutions such as Fundación Arquia (2019), Fundación Mutua Madrileña (2021), Fundación Hna (2022), and the Government of Aragon (2022).
