1. Academic qualification: Doctor in Philosophy and Arts since 1994

2. Academic activities:

He has been Full Professor of the Library and Documentation Area of the University of Zaragoza since 2011; Professor since 1996, and Associate Professor since 1990. He is a member of the Research Institute of Heritage and Humanities of the University of Zaragoza.

He has taught classes in the Library and Documentation Diplomatura, in the Information and Documentation Degree, in several doctoral and postgraduate programs on Medical Documentation (1996), Informatics and Law (2003), Consumer Affairs (2004), the Master in Electronic Business Administration (MeBA) (2003-2006) and the Master of Management of Units and Information Services and Documentation of the University of Zaragoza (2008-2010).

He has directed doctoral thesis and has been Socrates-Erasmus coordinator since 1994, as well as tutor of in-company practices since 1999.

3. Research activities and research lines

He has directed and participated in numerous research projects on the application of information and communication technologies to scientific documentation, cultural heritage and social management; as well as on the theory of documentation, information treatment and retrieval, knowledge organization and representation, historical information systems, and the social history of the Aragonese Mudejars.

He is currently focused on digital change trends in the previous areas.

He has participated in the organization of numerous scientific events, including the Encuentros Internacionales sobre Sistemas de Información y Documentación (Ibersid), of which he has been founder and director since 1996.

He directs the journals “Scire: Representación y Organización del Conocimiento” and “Ibersid: revista de Sistemas de Información y Documentación”. In addition, he is a member of the scientific council of several journals, such as El Profesional de la Información and the Revista Española de Documentación Científica.

5. Management activities

Among other responsibilities, he has been Director of the Department of Documentation Science and History of Science, coordinator of the Support Program for Teaching Innovation at the University of Zaragoza and coordinator of the Graduate Programme in Information and Documentation of the University of Zaragoza. He has been an evaluator for several quality agencies such as ANECA, ANEP, AQU or ACSUCYL, and numerous national and international journals and conferences.
