Víctor Montuenga Gómez holds a degree in Economics from the University of Zaragoza (UZ) and a PhD in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the ENTER network (European Network Training on Economic Research). He has been an assistant professor in the UAB and in the U. of Santiago de Compostela (USC), and associate professor (TU) at the U. de La Rioja (UR) and, since 2008, at the UZ. His research has focused in several lines within Labor Economics: i) the relationship between wages and productivity, as well as its influence on regional and sector unemployment: ii) estimation of the wage curve, how workers' wages react to changes in local unemployment rates; iii) family economy and aggregate labor supply; iv) influence of human capital in wages; and, more recently, v) gender differences in various respects of the Spanish labor market; and vi) job satisfaction as a reflection of working conditions in the workplace. Among these working conditions, one important aspect that he has also focused is security and health-related situation at work.
He has been a professor of masters and doctorate courses at USC, UR, UZ and at international ISLA centers (Portugal) and undergraduate degrees at University College London, where he completed a nine-month research stay. He has participated in 7 competitive national projects and 2 regional projects. It has been PI in 1 competitive project of regional scope and 1 local. He has also participated in 7 contracts with research entities, of which he has been the PI in three of them. He has published 16 research papers in international journals indexed in the JCR, 6 in international not-JCR-indexed peer- evaluated journals, and several more in not-indexed National journals. He has also published two book chapters with international publishers, two national chapters and has coordinated a book. He has presented more than 50 communications, of which 15 in international congresses and meetings, two national papers and has given 18 seminars and courses. He has participated in the organization of scientific meetings (European Economic Association, Economic Analysis Symposium, Labor Economics Conference, the annual meeting of the Spanish Association of Regional Science, and the International Conference on Public and Social Policies). He has also been on various national and international scientific committees. He received a PhD from the Generalitat of Catalonia (Doctoral Training Grant) and his research has been awarded the IV Lluís Fina Prize for Research in Labor Economics or the Ángela López Jiménez Award from the Economic and Social Council of Aragón. He is an evaluator in national and international journals (Labor Economics, Papers in Regional Science, or Regional Studies, among many others). He has been a founding member of the Spanish Association of Labor Economics and is currently its vice president.
