Pedro José Satústegui-Dordá (Barcelona, 1974) is a Permanent Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Nursing at the University of Zaragoza, holding a position linked to the Public Health System of Aragón within the Emergency Medical Services Management Unit (061 ARAGÓN). Following accreditation by the Aragon Agency for Quality Assurance and Strategic Foresight in Higher Education (ACPUA), he began working under this contractual arrangement in October 2022. Before that, since 2007, he had served as an Associate Lecturer in the same Department while simultaneously working as an Emergency Nurse with 061 ARAGÓN Emergency Medical Services.

He earned his Doctorate from the University of Zaragoza (2012) under the PhD Program in Health Sciences and later pursued studies in Journalism at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. Since the beginning of his research career, he has participated in several research groups recognized by the Government of Aragón: (S107) Research and Innovation Group on Teaching with Information and Communication Technologies, (B43_20R) Water and Environmental Health Group, and (B53_23R) SAPIENF Group. He has also contributed to competitive research projects, including (REL.I/2021-015) Health Equity in Education.

In the field of clinical research, his interests have focused on analyzing morbidity and mortality from external causes, particularly traffic accidents in the autonomous community of Aragón. His studies have also addressed violence against healthcare professionals and poisoning-related incidents. In addition, he has conducted investigations on information management and the quality of nursing records.

Regarding research in higher education, Dr. Satústegui has led numerous projects involving Information and Communication Technologies. Currently, one of his research lines explores the development of digital peripheral spheres aimed at co-creating health with the community, as well as implementing media literacy programs in health education.

The results of his research have been published in prestigious national and international journals. As the author of several books and book chapters, he has presented at numerous national and international conferences, serving on the scientific committee of some of them. He is also a peer reviewer for journals in his academic field.

The transfer of his research outcomes has led to improvements in nursing documentation practices within 061 ARAGÓN, the publication of scientific outreach articles, and initiatives in educational innovation—most notably, the production of a podcast series on poisoning.

In his administrative roles, Dr. Satústegui serves as Director of the University Expert Program in Anesthesia Care and the University Expert Program in Healthcare for Traffic Accident Victims. He is also the Dean’s Delegate for Institutional Communication at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Zaragoza, and Director of the Observatory Against Health Disinformation (OCODES).
