Mónica Delgado, industrial engineer, received her PhD from the University of Zaragoza in October 2013, with the doctoral thesis "Analysis of microencapsulated phase change material slurries and phase change material emulsions as heat transfer fluid and thermal storage materials", defended under the mention of International Doctorate obtaining the qualification of summa cumme laude. This work has been awarded twice, in 2013 by the Iberdrola Foundation, funding an R&D project continuation of hes thesis, and in 2016, where the Eurotherm Committee awarded her doctoral thesis. These prizes are awarded every four years to researchers under 35 years of age whose doctoral thesis falls within the branch of thermal engineering.

Since 2012, Mónica Delgado has published a total of 27 scientific articles related to the thermal energy storage research line. As of October 19th, 2023, these articles have a total of 992 citations and an h-index of 14, according to Scopus. She has also participated in more than 30 national and international conferences, and has participated in 21 research projects since 2008, both in publicly funded projects and in contracts with private companies (Abengoa, CIAT group, BSH Home Appliances, SAMCA Group and Valeo among others). She has also been the principal investigator of the Energy Action Group of Campus Iberus "Joint Action Plan on Energy Efficiency for Smart Cities".

Regarding her international activity, she has participated as an expert in the joint work program of the International Energy Agency ECES Annex-SHC Task 24-42 and its extension 29-42 "Compact Thermal Energy Storage: Material Development and System Integration", in Annex 33-SHC Task 58 "Material and Component Development for Thermal Energy Storage", SHC Task 55 "Integrating Large Solar Heating and Cooling Systems into District Heating and Cooling Networks" and SHC Task 67 "Compact Thermal Energy Storage Materials". She has completed a pre-doctoral stay at the Fraunhofer Institute ISE in Freiburg, Germany and a postdoctoral stay at the Ecole Supérieure des Mines Paris-CEMEF (CNRS), France. She is in charge together with Dr.
Ana Lázaro of the management of the Laboratory of Thermophysical Properties of the Research Group of Thermal Engineering and Energy Systems (GITSE) from the Aragon Institute for Engineering Research (I3A).
