Miguel A. Saz holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Zaragoza. He completed his doctoral dissertation at the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (Spanish National Research Council) and has been a professor in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Zaragoza since 2001. His research focuses on climate analysis from both spatial and temporal perspectives. He has studied present-day climate, its variability, and changes in extreme weather patterns, as well as the climate of past centuries through dendrochronology and historical climatology. Among his contributions are multi-century reconstructions of droughts and temperature trends in Spain. He has also explored the relationships between climate and forest systems. His academic output includes 62 publications in ORCID, 42 in SCOPUS, and over 140 in Research Gate. His academic impact features an h-index of 23 and 1,818 citations in SCOPUS, as well as an h-index of 27 and 2,826 citations in Research Gate. He has served as Principal Investigator on several prominent projects, including: TTF-Teaching the Future (2022-2023), funded by the European Union with a budget of €297,549; MINECO CGL2015-69985-R: Variability, Trends, and Extremes of Climate in the Mediterranean Slope of the Iberian Peninsula since the 16th Century (2016-2019); POCTEFA CLIMPY: Climate Characterization and Provision of Information for Adaptation in the Pyrenees (2015-2019). In addition, he has participated as a team member in two European Union-funded projects, five projects under the National Research Plan, and has led 13 knowledge transfer projects. In the academic field, he has coordinated the Master's program in Territorial and Environmental Management and served as Principal Investigator for the Climate, Water, Global Change, and Natural Systems Research Group of the Government of Aragon. Since 2018, he has been part of the management team of the Aragon Institute for Environmental Science Research and represents the University of Zaragoza on the Aragon Water Commission and the Board of Trustees of Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. He has supervised four doctoral theses, all awarded the highest distinction of "sobresaliente cum laude," and over 40 advanced academic projects (undergraduate, graduate, and master's theses). On January 18, 2024, he received a positive evaluation from ANECA for the position of University Associate Professor. Additionally, he has three recognized regional research periods (2001-2007, 2008-2013, 2014-2019).
