María Teresa Sánchez holds a PhD in Mathematics (Doctorado Europeo) by the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC) in 2009 and she belongs to the group “Multiscale in Mechanical and Biological Engineering” from Universidad de Zaragoza, recognised as a consolidated group by Gobierno de Aragón. The current research lines of the researcher focus on the mathematical modelling and numerical simulation of biological processes, mainly in cell migration, resulting in 5 publications, and 6 contributions to international conferences. Other research lines she developed are the mathematical modelling and numerical simulation of nonlinear problems arising from industrial processes (such as aluminium solidification and brittle materials), resulting in 9 publications, and 12 contributions to conferences. Since 2004, she was an active member in research projects (1 European project, 9 projects of State R&D Program, and 17 regional projects). In two of the regional projects the researcher was the principal investigator. Regarding international collaborations, she carried out 4 research stays in University of Sussex (UK) and Université Pierre et Marie
Curie (France), working jointly with Doina Cioranescu, and Anotida Madzvamuse. Regarding her contributions to society, the researcher published 2 books devoted to the dissemination of mathematical technology to companies, she participated in 2 contracts with the company everis Aeroespacial y Defensa, and she gave training courses to technicians in companies (AIMEN Centro Tecnológico, GEKA Automation). Moreover, she took part in the 139 European Study Group with Industry in July 2018 (in collaboration with ArcelorMittal). Furthermore, she carried out several dissemination activities in European Researchers' Night and International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Finally, she was member of the "Mujeres y Matemáticas" committee of Real Sociedad Matemática Española. Her contribution to the training and mentoring of young researchers results in the supervision of the End-of-Degree project, Master Dissertation and PhD thesis of Jorge Escribano Jiménez, currently working in the industrial sector. The researcher was the coordinator of the Research & Development Promotion Office (OPID) in the Centro Universitario de la Defensa from 2014 to 2016. The objectives of OPID was to promote research at the CUD, to facilitate projects and collaborations between the CUD and organizations within the sectors of Defence and private business, and to disseminate CUD research findings among general public. Regarding the general quality indicators of scientific research, her scientific activity in the six-year periods 2006-2011 and 2012-2017 has been positively evaluated by the Agencia de Calidad y Prospectiva Universitaria de Aragón (ACPUA) and its teaching and research activity has been positively evaluated for the figure of Profesor Contratado Doctor and of Profesor Titular by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain (ANECA). Finally, the researcher carried out evaluation activities for several JCR indexed journals.
