Belinda López-Mesa is Full Professor of Architectural Construction at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). She graduated in Architecture from the University of Seville (2000, Spain) and completed part of her training through an Erasmus placement at the École d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville (France). She obtained her PhD from Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) in 2004 and further developed her research training at international institutions including the State University of New York (USA), the University of Navarra (Spain) and the Technical University of Denmark. She also carried out research stays at the Manchester Institute of Science (United Kingdom), Universitat Jaume I (Spain) and the Indian Institute of Science (India).

She has developed her academic career at Luleå University of Technology (2000–2004, Sweden), Universitat Jaume I (2004–2010, Spain) and the University of Zaragoza (since 2010, Spain). She is the principal investigator of the Built4Life Lab, a research group officially recognised by the Government of Aragon since 2017, and coordinates the TechinHabitare research line, focusing her research on architectural design through climate, energy, and material flows, exploring topics such as circular design, the sustainable transformation of the built environment, and the potential of digitalization to promote sustainability. Her research has contributed to the improvement of professional practices and regulatory frameworks in Spain and Europe. She has participated in 42 research projects and contracts, leading 17 of them (7 competitive projects and 10 knowledge-transfer projects), and has authored more than 100 scientific publications. She has supervised seven doctoral theses and is currently supervising four more.

Since 2006, she has been actively involved in the evaluation of scientific manuscripts, doctoral theses, books and research projects, serving on national and international evaluation committees for organisations such as FORMAS (Sweden), the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) and AENOR.

She carries out a wide range of knowledge-transfer activities through the direction of the Zaragoza Vivienda Chair since 2011, in collaboration with the Municipal Housing Society Zaragoza Vivienda, as well as through institutional collaboration agreements, including the one devoted to the sustainable intervention in a Renaissance palace house, headquarters of the College of Architects, during the 2025–2028 period. She also has extensive experience in academic management and currently coordinates the Architecture Degree at the University of Zaragoza.

With 25 years of national and international teaching experience, she has taught at the universities where she has worked and undertaken teaching stays in Denmark and Spain, in addition to contributing as a guest lecturer in postgraduate and continuing education programmes.
