Jorge Velilla es Graduado en Matemáticas y tiene un Máster en Economía. También es Doctor en Economía por la Universidad de Zaragoza. Jorge Velilla ha completado su educación con diferentes cursos de especialización en diversas instituciones, tales como Columbia University, Stanford University, Georgia State University, o la London School of Economics. Jorge Velilla es actualmente Profesor Ayudante Doctor en la Universidad de Zaragoza, está afiliado a la Global Labor Organization (GLO), al Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Empleo, Sociedad Digital y Sostenibilidad (IEDIS), y es miembro de la junta directiva de la Asociación Española de Economía del Trabajo y del Grupo de Acción Emprendimiento del Campus Iberus. Anteriormente, Jorge Velilla fue Profesor Sustituto en la Universidad de La Rioja e Investigador Visitante en Columbia University. Sus principales áreas de investigación son la Economía del Transporte y la Economía de la Familia, con especial interés en los usos del tiempo de los hogares, los desplazamientos de los trabajadores y los comportamientos intrafamiliares. Sus investigaciones se han publicado en revistas de impacto tales como The Journal of Transport Geography, Transport Policy, Economic Modelling, o The Journal of Regional Science.
