Professor Zarza holds a PhD in Computer Science from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (2023), a MSc in Multimedia Information Technology (with Distinction) from City University of Hong Kong (2015), and a BSc in Mathematics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2013). She is currently a member of the Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering at Universidad de Zaragoza.

In 2024, she was an Assistant Professor at the Escuela Politécnica Superior (Mathematical Engineering) of Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid. She has also held research positions at several prestigious institutions, including the Institute of Informatics and Mathematics at GOETHE-Universität in Germany; the Centre for Intelligent Multidimensional Data Analysis at the HK Science Park; the Computer Vision Laboratory at ETH Zurich in Switzerland; and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also worked at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA; and the Department of Electrical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong.

Her research interests include the development and application of language models for the enhancement of complex engineering systems, as well as new computational theories for understanding economic distribution and human behavior. She also focuses on drone navigation and communication, advanced computer vision and robotics techniques for object recognition and manipulation.

Zarza is the author of more than 35 publications in peer-reviewed journals and at national and international conferences. She has an h-index of 11 and her works have been cited around 500 times according to Google Scholar. Since April 2025, she is also an editor (Early Career Editorial Board) of the journal Drones, and since May 2025, Topic Editor of Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence.
