I am currently a professor in the Department of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Sciences, University of Zaragoza. I have five-year teaching periods and six-year research periods. Awards: Prince of Asturias 1997; Scientific Research 1997 Castilla y León; Royal Academy of Sciences of Zaragoza 1997; Aragonia 2012; Cortes de Aragón Medal 2018. Since 2021, Vice Chancellor of Technological Transfer and Innovation. 276 ORCID publications (https://orcid.org/my-orcid?orcid=0000-0001-5125-9651); 143 Web of Science, h-index 37 (WOS: https://www.webofscience.com/wos/woscc/summary/ad967503-1268-438a-86d1-6ae3cad79dce-4ae0b3fa/relevance/1); 150 Scopus (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=6602363836). I have also written 11 books and have given more than 100 popular science conferences. My main lines of research are microvertebrates, especially mammals from the Mesozoic and Rodentia, Eulipotyphla, Chiroptera, and Lagomorpha from the Cenozoic. The analysis of these mammals is the basis of phylogenetic, evolutionary, paleoecological, taphonomic, and biostratigraphic studies. Along with other members of the Aragosaurus team, I am applying innovations in analysis such as ancient DNA, geometric morphometry, and with the help of microtechnology, the three-dimensional reconstruction of the skeleton of extinct mammals. I am starting a line of research and teaching in the Paleobiology of conservation. I have directed, within the Aragosaurus and Atapuerca teams (with researchers from the Complutense, Rovira i Virgili, Burgos, Basque Country, Barcelona, and Université Via Domitia, Perpignan, France universities) fourteen doctoral theses and fifteen master's thesis on microvertebrates Cenozoic and Mesozoic.
