Vicente Salas-Fumás received his PhD in Management Science from Purdue University (USA) in 1976. He is currently Full Professor of Business Economics at the Universidad de Zaragoza. Previously he was Full Professor of Business Economics at the Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona. He has served as member of the board of directors and of the executive committee of the Banco de España for 12 years from 2006-2018. He has been president of the Foundation of Economic Analysis (CSIC), 1998-2003; Member of the Advisory Academic Board of the Fundación BBVA (2000- Abril 2006); Member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of CEMFI, 1998-continue; Member of the Corporate Economists Advisory Group, International Chamber of Commerce, 1994 – 2000. He has published in leading fields journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Strategic Management Journal, International Journal of Industrial Organization, European Economic Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Journal of Financial Stability, Economics of Energy, Small Business Economics, among others. His main academic interests have been the application of economic analysis to business decisions and organization, with empirical work in managerial compensation, banking, innovation, corporate investment. His current main research interest is the study of occupational choices as determinants of entrepreneurship, production efficiency, distribution of firm size, and market labor income inequality. He has supervised more than twenty-five PhD dissertations with doctorates employed as professors and public employees in different universities and institutions across the country. He has served as research consultant in the Financial Stability Division of Banco de España, and has served as editor and reviewer of several academic journals. He has received several regional and national awards for his contribution to teaching, research and public services in economics of business.
