Before joining the University of Zaragoza, he was postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Centre in Madrid (2010-2012) and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Childhood and the Urban World (2005-2010). He holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and a Master in Social Sciences from the Centre for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (Juan March Institute). He has co-edited the book The Mediterranean Regime and the Economic Crisis (Routledge 2014) and published extensively in books, scientific journals and the main press outlets in Spain in several research field: welfare policies, child poverty, family studies and education. From 2018 to 2019 he served as High Commissioner against Child Poverty in the Spanish Government.
