Belinda López-Mesa is a Full Professor at the University of Zaragoza in the division of Architectural Constructions. She got her degree in Architecture from the University of Seville (Spain) in 2000, after studying at the Seville School of Architecture, whose training she completed with an Erasmus stay at l'Ecole d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville (France). She got the PhD degree from Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) in 2004, engaging in research courses at various international institutions (the State University of New York, the University of Navarra, and the Technical University of Denmark). She completed pre-doctoral research stays at two European centers for a total of 3.5 months, at the Manchester Institute of Science in UK and at the Universitat Jaume I in Spain, and a post-doctoral stay for two months in the Indian Institute of Science (India).

She has worked at three public European univiersities: Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) between 2000 and 2004, the Universitat Jaume I  (Spain) between 2004 and 2010, and the University of Zaragoza (Spain) since 2010 to present.

She is specialized in buildings circular design, energy efficiency and renovation. She has been involved in 42 research projects and contracts with companies, leading 17 of them (7 competitive projects and 10 contracts with companies). She has supervised 5 doctoral theses defended in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2020, and 2023, and she has more than 100 publications in scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. She serves as a reviewer for numerous JCR indexed international journals. She is the lead researcher of the Built4Life Lab, recognized by the Government of Aragon since 2017. She collaborates with numerous international research groups.

Since 2006, she is actively engaged in the evaluation of numerous scientific works, including manuscripts in indexed journals, books, PhD theses, and national and international research projects. Her commitment extends to various committees, including her role as a member of the expert review panel for Built Environment and Living Environments at FORMAS (Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development). Additionally, she serves as an expert in Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) Projects, as well as a Specialist Technician in R&D&I Projects (STP) with the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR). Furthermore, she is a regular evaluator for the Spanish Agency for Research (AEI).

She has developed numerous transfer activities, highlighting her work as co-director of the Cátedra Zaragoza Vivienda since 2011, a bilateral agreement with Zaragoza municipal housing company, and her participation in the joint committee of the Cátedra SOCOTEC in Circular Engineering. She has experience in academic management since 2004. Currently, she coordinates the division of Architectural Construction at the University of Zaragoza and the Bachelor degree in Architecture.

She has extensive teaching international and national experience acquired at the three universities where she has worked, as well as at other European institutions where she has completed teaching stays -at Vitus Bering Denmark University College (Horsens, Denmark) in 2007, and at the University of Cantabria (Santander, Spain) in 2007, 2008 and 2009- or in which she has collaborated as a guest in teaching master's degrees -such as the University of Seville and the University of San Jorge-.
