My research activity began in the world of digital image analysis and processing, carrying out one of the first doctoral thesis in Spain in image analysis using discrete wavelet transform. This work is completed with the direction of a doctoral thesis in the same field and a set of publications.
The work evolves towards the world of musical signal analysis and processing. In this field he works in the design of reverberation effects and acoustic modeling of rooms participating in numerous conferences. A stay at the CCRMA of Stanford University in California was carried out and from there he developed his own and original technique of audio signal analysis called CWAS by means of continuous and complex wavelet transform that has given rise to another Doctoral Thesis and a set of publications in prestigious journals.
In recent years, a line of research in audiovisual technologies has been opened, in which, in addition to sound, augmented and virtual reality environments, tangible interfaces and, in general, multimodal environments are introduced. A set of communications to conferences and indexed publications have been generated and a Doctoral Thesis on emotion-based music recommender systems is being co-directed, and I have participated in different projects in this line that remains active.
In recent years I have opened a line of work in the development of Artificial Intelligence technologies for the analysis of sound and music. At this moment, two Doctoral Theses are being directed, one on sound source localization and the other on automatic music composition based on Artificial Intelligence. Both works are being published in high impact journals.
In the field of transfer I have been the promoter in 2008 of ARSTIC Audiovisual Solutions S.L. an academic spin-off for the use of technologies for the artistic and audiovisual world. I have also been director of the TAIM_WESER chair at the University of Zaragoza. Currently we are opening a line of collaboration with the company BSH for the implementation of acoustic technologies in cooking environments.
Additionally, I have held different university management positions: Area Director of the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching Staff, Deputy Director of the CPS, Area Director of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Vice-Rector for Research and Vice-Rector for the Campus of Excellence. It is worth mentioning the experience in R&D management acquired as Vice Rector for Research at the University of Zaragoza. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
