Graduated in Veterinary Medicine in September 1993 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zaragoza. Degree of Doctor (with International Mention) in May 2015 with the qualification of cum laude. Professional certification ‘Certificado Español en Clínica Equina (CertEspCEq)’, awarded by the Consejo General de Colegios Veterinarios de España (CGCVE), recognising demonstrated experience and accredited knowledge in equine clinical practice.
Part-time Associate Lecturer (Adjunct Professor) in Equine Surgery from 2001 to 2024. Academic activity carried out simultaneously with the main activity as a private equine veterinarian (from 1995 to 2005) and, subsequently, as a veterinarian and senior surgeon (equine) at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Zaragoza (from 2005 to 2024).
Since December 2024, Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) of Equine Medicine and Surgery at the Department of Animal Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zaragoza.
Successive stays in 1993-1995, the first at the Veterinary Department of the French National Equestrian School (Saumur, France), the second at the Equine Clinic and Anatomy Service of the National Veterinary School of Alfort (France), and the third at the Equine Hospital of Padua (Italy). Teaching stays at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of the Republic (Montevideo, Uruguay), National Veterinary School of Lyon VetAgroSup (France) and National Veterinary School of Alfort (France).
Participation in more than 35 research projects and contracts, including 10 contracts with foundations and companies as Research in charge. Participation since its creation in 2006, in the research line on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in horses as a member of the research group LAGENBIO (recognised by the Government of Aragon, Spain), as well as in the equine regenerative medicine service of the Veterinary Hospital. Since 2008, promoter of the equine medicine and surgery research line and especially minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) at the Veterinary Hospital.
Director of 5 doctoral theses, 6 master's theses and more than 30 degree dissertations (bachelor's degree), supervised internships, etc.
Member of the Instituto de Investigación Agroalimentaria de Aragón (IA2) and the Instituto de Investigaciones Sanitarias de Aragón (IIS).
Certified for the handling of animals for experimental and other scientific purposes, including teaching, in categories a), b), c), d), e) and f) in all species, according to Order ECC/566/2015.
Main governance activities: elected member of the Board of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from 2008 to the present and of the Governing Board of the University of Zaragoza from 2012 to 2016. Deputy Director of the large animal section of the Veterinary Hospital from 2009 to 2016 Director of the Master's Degree in Equine Clinical Practice from 2007 to 2016. Member of the Executive Board of the Spanish Association of Equine Veterinary Practitioners from 2007 to 2021.
