I finished my undergraduate studies in Mathematics (University of Zaragoza) in 1986, obtaining my PhD in 1991 in the University of Geneva (Switzerland) where I got an Assistant position. After a post-doc stage (as Maître de Conférences) in 1992 at the Universitiy of Bordeaux, I got a permanent position (Profesor Titular) at the Universidad Complutense (Madrid) in 1993; I move, with the same position to the University of Zaragoza in 1994. In 2005 I got a position as Full Professor in Geometry and Topology (Catedrático) at the same University; this position was delivered after a national contest (Habilitación). I am part of the  Instituto Universitario de Matemáticas y Aplicaciones; I have been ViceDean of the Faculty of Science, President of its Teaching Committee, Coordinator of the Master of Research in Mathematics, Coordinator of the Bachelor in Mathematics, Head of the Department of Mathematics. Member of the Real Academia de Ciencias de Zaragoza, editor of its Revista and Monografías.

I have been advisor for 8 PhD theses, 8 Bachelor Theses and 3 Master Thesis.

I have participate in 19 competitive research projects.

In the last 10 years, 2009-2018, I have been speaker in more than 50 international congress. I have been member of Organizing or Scientific Committees of 20 congress.

I am referee for the National Evaluation Agency (ANEP) and for a big number of research journals in Mathematics.

There are reviews of 79 publications in MathSciNet.

There are 16 publications with more than 30 citations; in particular, my 1994 paper, "Les Couples de Zariski", in J. Alg. Geom., has 158 citations.

Areas of interest:  Topology of quasi-projective manifolds. Arithmetic and algebraic aspects of Singularity Theory. Zariski pairs. Bernstein polynomials. Artin and quasi-projective groups. Computation (Sagemath).

I had collaborations with many mathematicians: S.S. Abhyankar, J. Carmona, Pi. Cassou-Noguès, J.I. Cogolludo, A. Costa, A. Dimca, M. Escario, J. Fernández de Bobadilla, V. Florens, L. Gorrochategui, B. Guerville, S. Isaza, M. Iz.quierdo, A.S. Libgober, M.T Lozano, I. Luengo, S. López de Medrano, M.Á. Marco, J. Martín-Morales, D. Matei, H. Maugendre, A. Melle, J. Ortigas, H. Tokunaga, J. Wahl, D-Q Zhang.
