Elias Cueto is professor of continuum and structural mechanics since 2010. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in the University of Oviedo (1997), and then moved to the university of Zaragoza, where he obtained his Ph.D in 2001. He has been an assistant professor in the University of Oviedo (1999-2000) and since then, an associate and then full professor at the University of Zaragoza. Currently, he is a visiting professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure d'Arts et Métiers (ENSAM-ParisTech).

His research lines include computational mechanics in its broadest sense, with particular emphasis in data-driven computing and physics-aware machine learning. His research has been awarded with the Juan C. Simo prize of the Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering (2005), the Scientific Prize of the European Scientific Association of Material Forming (2006), the CETIM Foundation prize (2007) and the O. C. Zienkiewicz award by the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS, 2012).

He is currently the president of the Spanish Association of Computational Engineering and Mechanics (SEMNI), member of the Board of directors of ESAFORM from 2008 to 2020 and member of the General Assembly of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences, ECCOMAS.

He is also fellow of the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering & Science, EAMBES (2020) and the International association of Computational Mechanics, IACM, 2022.

He is currently visiting professor of the CNRS@CREATE center in Singapore (a consortium of the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and the National University of Singapore).
