Carlos D. Gómez-Carmona is an Assistant Professor at the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR). His education includes a Bachelor's degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, two master's degrees (Research in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and Teacher Training) from the University of Murcia (UMU), complemented by a Master's in High Performance in Cyclic Sports and a Specialist degree in Sports Center Management. He obtained his PhD in Sport Sciences with Honors, International Mention, and Extraordinary Award from the University of Extremadura (UEX). He has taught courses in High Performance, Team Sports Specialization, and Teaching Physical Activities in Natural Environments and Cooperation-Opposition Activities.
His research career initially developed in the Optimization of Training and Sports Performance Group (GOERD, UEX), and currently in the Research Group in Training, Physical Activity and Sports Performance (ENFYRED, UNIZAR). His research focuses on monitoring external and internal demands for sports performance and injury prevention through technological support.
He has published 131 studies (122 in the last 5 years) in 41 scientific journals, with 66 indexed in JCR (27 in Q1). He has authored 8 book chapters in prestigious publishers and participated in 28 conferences with 6 invited lectures and 53 oral communications. His scientific production has generated high impact (h-index: 35, i10-index: 69, 3673 citations in Google Scholar).
In knowledge transfer, he participated in an R&D+i project with RealTrack Systems and received an FPU predoctoral fellowship. He has conducted scientific outreach activities and co-authored 15 educational publications. He is a member of the external R&D network for the United States Soccer Federation in sports biomechanics and performance analysis.
He has participated in 4 research projects (international, national, and regional) with funding exceeding €200,000. He completed predoctoral stays at UEX, National University (Costa Rica), and UMU, generating 21 publications and 8 communications. He maintains collaborations with over 30 researchers from Spanish and foreign universities (Portugal, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Norway).
In research training, he has collaborated in the formation of 14 doctoral students, contributing to obtaining 5 predoctoral fellowships. He has co-directed 4 undergraduate and master's theses, tutored 21 students, and serves as a reviewer for JCR journals (Biology of Sport, EJSS, IJPAS, JSCR, Sports Engineering) and editor for Frontiers and MDPI. He currently supervises 6 undergraduate theses in Physical Education (UNIZAR).
