Anna Biedermann holds a PhD from Poznan University of Technology (Poland) in 2014 (awarded by the European Funds Human Capital Operational Programme), a degree in Architecture in 2006 (from UdK Berlin, Germany and DAAD scholarship) and a degree in Fine Arts in 2004 (from Poznan University of Fine Arts, Poland). Her doctoral thesis was awarded the extraordinary prize of the Department of Architecture and was the first in the history of the Poznan University of Technology to be awarded a European doctorate. Since 2004 she has been collaborating with various architecture and design studios in Spain, Germany and Poland. Her professional projects include exhibition designs such as ‘Auschwitz, not long ago, not far away’ presented in Madrid, New York, Kansas, Malmö, Los Angeles and currently in Boston, or the recently opened exhibition ‘Berlin Wall. Un mundo dividido’ (Berlin Wall. Living in a Divided World) currently on show in Madrid. Another project that stands out is the design of the exhibition Seeing Auschwitz, which premiered in parallel at the headquarters of Unesco in Paris and the UN in New York, and has since been presented in San Sebastian, Madrid, London, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and currently in Charlotte.
She was the coordinator of the Mediation, Innovation, Entrepreneurship programme in which 7 researchers carried out their projects in collaboration with the communities concerned, involving society in the creation of knowledge. The applicant carried out tasks of innovation management, work monitoring, dissemination of results and representation in the media. She is a contracted lecturer in the Area of Engineering Graphic Expression at the University of Zaragoza, teaching since 2010, participating in 30 Teaching Innovation Projects. She has co-directed a doctoral thesis that has obtained an outstanding evaluation Cum Laude and is currently co-directing 3 doctoral theses related to sustainability assessment.
She has directed 43 Final Degree and Master's Degree projects, as well as tutoring 6 students in company internships. Since 2012 she is part of the consolidated research group ‘Observatorio Aragonés de Arte en la Esfera Pública’, of which she is currently co-IP, participating in projects with national and autonomic funding. Her research establishes connections between engineering, architecture, urbanism and culture, trying to define the aspects of sustainability applied to different fields. It seeks interdisciplinary union to take advantage of the advances of each discipline. The results of this work have been published in scientific journals (25 articles e.g. Journal of Cleaner Production, The International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment), edited books (En los márgenes de la ciudad, del arte y de la crítica, Arte y Tecnología en Aragón), 34 book chapters (e.g. edited by Springer), international conference proceedings (more than 45 papers with proceedings e.g. International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic & Social Sustainability). She has been principal investigator in a Project funded by the University of Zaragoza and in a project of the call for R+D+i PROJECTS IN PRIORITY LINES AND OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY CHARACTER called by the Government of Aragon. She has participated in 8 research projects and has led 17 knowledge transfer contracts.
