Alicia Valero Delgado es ingeniera química y obtuvo un doctorado europeo de la Universidad de Zaragoza en el 2008. Además realizó el máster en Eficiencia Energética y Ecología Industrial de la misma universidad. Actualmente es catedrática del área de Máquinas y Motores Térmicos y directora del grupo de Ecología Industrial del Instituto Energaia. Su actividad investigadora se ha centrado en la evaluación exergética del capital mineral de la Tierra, tema en el cual lleva trabajando desde sus inicios como investigadora y del cual ha recibido cuatro reconocimientos internacionales. Es coautora de más de cien publicaciones en revistas científicas y capítulos de libro, así como numerosas comunicaciones a congresos internacionales. Ha participado en un gran número de proyectos nacionales e internacionales, todos relacionados con el estudio y la optimización de energía y materiales. Ha codirigido seis tesis doctorales además de ser la directora de numerosos proyectos fin de carrera o máster. Forma parte de varios comités de expertos internacionales relacionados con la optimización de recursos naturales.
